Halloween: Vampire

We're having a costume party at work this year -- Hooray! They are always so much fun. Amazingly enough, my costume is mostly red and black. I'm wearing a long black skirt, a glamorous white shirt, a dark velvet brocade vest, red tie, and black lace cape with hood. Everyone loves this cape which I made a few years ago for my daughter who was experimenting with the goth look. My make up is pretty exaggerated -- pale face powder, dark lips and eyes. I've got goop in my hair to make it extra curly, and I've sprayed it with gray.

It's snowing outside! I've chosen a fluffy short gray sweater today, with a winter scarf of gray/dark gray paisley, plus your basic black pants. The sweater is a bit low-cut for work so I've got a white camisole on underneath. I'm letting the cami peek out at the waistline.

Stripes! I'm wearing a vertically striped button-down shirt over a horizontally striped polo. The outer shirt is quite long; it comes down past the hips. I've buttoned the bottom two buttons. A scarf would look nice with this, but I've worn a scarf the past two days so I'm choosing a scarf-less look today.

I'm sticking with the black/gray color scheme this week. Today I'm wearing a gray sweater, which I've belted as that is the current fashion, and a long black skirt. I've also got on a scarf that I made myself. My daughter loved this scarf and begged to have it but I hard-heartedly refused.

Beige/Denim

Here I'm wearing pale beige pants and a darker beige polo shirt. My jeans shirt has a zippered breast pocket. I made this skinny littlescarf myself. It's finger-knitting of a shiny cream-colored string. I wore beige and denim every day this week!

Today I've got on a pair of flared jeans, a white polo and a long beige jacket. The jacket is fitted, unlined and has some (fake) pocket detail. I'll just say it right out -- this is not an expensive jacket. I'm wearing the long skinny scarf I made several weeks ago. This week, BTW, is gonna be a beige and denim week--just to set myself a challenge.

I made another scarf

Red, white and black, with a soft cotton scarf I made last night out of a pair of thrift-store pants. My daughter Karen loved this scarf and kept begging to have it. I hard-heartedly refused.

Polka Dots!

Fitted shirt in a feminine pattern of red with white polka dots; topped with a black shirt (just polyester, but nicely done--feels real thick and silky) and jeans.

Dark Jeans Blazer

Here I've got on a fitted blazer with wide openings at the sleeves, also beige pants, white V-neck T, and a scarf. I usually roll or push up long sleeves but can't with these; the wide sleeve openings aren't conducive to that.

It's black and beige today -- a striped T worn with black pants and blazer, topped with a long skinny flowered scarf.

A Sweater Blazer

I love the maroon sweater blazer which I picked up for 99C at my favorite store, The Salvation Army. It's got a small cable knit and a row of buttons at the wrist. I'm wearing it with striped jeans and a white polo. I think that a plain scoop T-shirt would have been better but didn't have time this morning to be try on a bunch of different shirts.

Red and Beige and Leather Boots

Here's a beige polo and a short red skirt. I've got tan leather boots and a tan leather belt. These boots are so cute! They have heels, though, which KILL my back.

A Bit of Animal Print

Animals prints go in and out, don't they? Apparently they are back in this season. I may try something daring later -- i.e., something made entirely of leopard skin, but for right now it's a print collar only. Black pants, white polo, topped with a new piece: a dark gray sweater with a leopard print color.

Red and Blue

Jeans and a red shirt jacket. I've got a beige polo on, and chose a blue/beige scarf to tie the look together.

Denim Jacket, Beige Pants

Pants a smidge tight. They are size 7/8! Have you noticed that junior sizes are holding steady but misses sizes are getting smaller? In high school, I was a junior size 7/8 and a misses size 8. A couple decades later a junior size 7/8 is a bit tight on me, but I'm a misses size 4.
